The Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo is a part of the Hyatt luxury resort franchise. This hotel embodies the indigenous ambiance of Costa Rica and the pampering treatment we all love.
I’ve stayed here a couple of times and each time, I’m not ready to leave! My first stay here was with Karen Tran’s Floral Experience in Costa Rica and the second time I stayed, I got to enjoy the most wonderful family vacation with my husband and son.
Truly, the travel desires of our hearts do come true as the first time I visited, I remember wishing my family was with me to experience the relaxation, atmosphere, and adventure.
I am glad to say Costa Rica will be our home away from home. When I left, I declared it would become our annual holiday vacation getaway and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, so I cannot wait until I’m finally able to make that a reality again.
We will, of course, travel to other places, but there’s something about returning to a place again and again. You revisit memories, make new ones, and experience the kind of familiarity and comfort that comes from getting to see people and places year. They become a part of your lives in a way that truly gives you a diverse and global family.
Without a doubt, this is one of my favourite hotels I have stayed in. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the staff. I was also given an upgrade upon check-in which was such a delight. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (I appreciate this!) and the restaurant staff deserves a special thanks. I had two great evenings there on my last trip, which only added to the great experience.
My entire stay was simply remarkable, and another special thanks goes to Maria for going that extra mile to make that happen. Alright, let’s dive into the resort, rooms and activity opportunities!
Grounds, Amenities and Rooms
The Andaz Papagayo features 21 suites with 4 that have private plunge pools. The rooms offer breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding forest.
The Andaz Papagayo also offers spa treatments by Onda Spa and they have 9 spa treatment rooms. They have every amenity under the sun from meeting facilities to wifi to a concierge to a fitness center, digital check-in, business services and more. They’re also pet friendly so you can bring your furbaby or family pet along with you.
In addition to the private plunge pools that accompany some suites, they also have an incredible plunge pool open to the public along with the most relaxing and fun lounge area.
The rooms are the epitome of luxury and comfort. There are private outdoor terraces, complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, and beautiful views of the forest and bay. With my deep bathtub, posh room that overlooked the ocean, and feathery, over-sized bed, I didn’t know whether to stay in and indulge or venture out.
Your Stay, Experiences, and Dining Options
The resort itself is on a 1,400-acre private estate with access to three beaches and world-class golf. There are endless outdoor activities available such as biking, nature walks, and canoeing. You truly get both the forest-like experience of hiking and being amongst nature as well as the beach experience with boating, scuba diving, rafting, snorkeling, swimming, and the likes. It’s the best of both worlds.
The resort also offers extensive activity programs and classes such as dance, pottery, fitness, yoga, Spanish lessons and more! It’s just incredible! There’s an abundance of enriching activities and exploration options. This resort truly feeds your mind, body, and spirit with art and adventure. You can also tour animal sanctuaries!
From the crystal clear, aquamarine pools to the beachfront views to the uniquely arched architecture, this resort provides an absolute escape and inspirational space to dream and unwind.
The Andaz Papagayo offers four very distinct dining venues that truly captured the tastes and pleasures of Latin America. Each restaurant gave me a glimpse of what makes Costa Rica truly remarkable.
At the Rio Bhongo, I took in panoramic views of the ocean and tropical elements while I dined on mouth-watering, homemade breads, fresh fruit smoothies, and yummy salads all in an open air setting.
At the Chao Pescao, I felt right at home with its lively neighborhood vibe. Their tapas menu was out of this world and provided for some fun and unique dining delights, including octopus, Colombian Arepas, and Chicharronnes. It’s the place to go if you truly want to experience a warm atmosphere and gourmet versions of some of Latin America’s favorite culinary delights.
At the Ostra, I felt like a VIP enjoying an intimate, private dining experience—which is exactly what the restaurant is going for. I was welcomed with a meticulously prepared cocktail and the opportunity to choose from their chef’s homemade flavors. They serve fresh seafood and, boy, is it divine.
I believe you’ll love this resort as much as I did!
