Should you choose to venture off-property though for a little city exploration (which I always recommend), you’re in major luck. Atholl is one of Johannesburg’s most elite settings. AtholPlace House: Up to 18 guests
The larger of the two properties, AtholPlace House is the ideal option for up to 18 guests. With nine en-suite bedrooms (each of which is incredibly aesthetically pleasing and endlessly comforting), the house is ideal for a multi-generational family getaway, a small wedding, or even a corporate retreat.
While the rooms are incredibly comfortable, if you’re anything like me, most of your time will be spent outside of your private room. After all, with a bar and library complete with a dreamy fireplace, a temperature-controlled swimming pool, a private gym, and a lush on-site garden—there is so much to explore and enjoy on this property.
AtholPlace Villa: Up to 8 guests
AtholPlace Villa is the smaller of the two properties and is ideal for single-family vacations, girls’ trips, small bridal parties, and intimate friend groups. The first floor houses three expansive bedrooms and one smaller, cosier bedroom—all of which are en suite (major bonus!).
You can venture outside of your room to find an array of elevated living and dining areas that seamlessly transition to the stunning outdoor space, which is complete with a lush garden, a sparkling pool, and a boma.

In addition to the endless options the two different properties allow for (think: close family can stay in the villa, while your bridal party and guests stay in the house)—what I really love about AtholPlace is the all-encompassing experience it offers.
Breakfast is always included—and you can even opt for a full-board option with a chef at-hand to source local produce and prepare fresh, authentic meals at flexible hours to suit your schedule. Chefs can also develop custom menus for weddings, events, or conferences—ensuring you and your guests have access to incredible culinary options around the clock.
