London’s Most Anticipated Wedding Industry Gala and Karen Tran London Hands-On Masterclass, The Floral Experience, Wows Attendees and Guests

Karen Tran London | International wedding designer Karen Tran’s work speaks for itself, but just as it speaks to the level of skill she possesses it also speaks to the level of skill and inside techniques she unveils to wedding planners, designers, and florists who ache to know how they can create similar over-the-top floral structures, ceilings, and centerpieces for the luxury market in their own businesses.

When you smell the sweet aroma of the fresh roses and orchids and drift into a wonderland as your eyes wander from gold pedestals to cascading floral table runners to 14-foot floral archways, one doesn’t always think “what’s behind all of this?”

But for wedding industry business owners who attend Karen’s masterclass, that’s precisely what they’re thinking and wanting to know. And that’s preciously what Karen teaches them. In her hands-on and thorough style, Karen pulls back the curtain to teach attendees of her Floral Experience Masterclass the tools, materials, and techniques they need to use to create all that you see here. And the 2019 Floral Experience Masterclass in London was no exception.

From learning how to calculate the number of flowers needed to create a structure or a cascading table runner to understanding how to source flowers and how to work with them to craft luxury structures and designs, students learn techniques it has taken Karen years to perfect—techniques that A-listers, celebrities, and royals around the world pay Karen large sums of money to create for their own weddings.

Attendees not only learn how to design high-end, over-the-top floral architecture for the luxury market, but they also learn the specifics of what the luxury market is looking for when it comes to wedding design.

At this year’s London Floral Experience Masterclass, the attendees poured their hearts, souls, and talent into designing the already remarkable venue, The Savoy, into a space full of fantasy, desire, and fairytale dreams. And I had the privilege of working alongside them.

Wedding planners, designers, and florists, under the meticulous eye of Karen, manipulated thousands of roses, hydrangeas, tulips, peonies, and phalaenopsis orchids into beautiful works of art.

The Grand Unveiling at the Gala Dinner

After the 3-day workshop and hands-on work designing the space for the gala dinner, it was time to step away and wait for the guests to arrive.

The event was hosted in the grand and airy River Room and it buzzed with excitement as the wedding industry’s finest filed in. They marveled at Karen Tran’s mentorship and how quickly the attendees learned the techniques and put their new skills to the test. Karen’s gala dinners are always highly anticipated events and they draw a large crowd that includes A-listers, influencers, media outlets, bloggers, and renowned wedding industry business owners.

Opulence was the theme for the masterclass and there was absolutely a wealth of luxury and splendor. Everything brimmed with beauty. The crockery sparkled, the florals inspired, Karen and the attendees glowed, and the mimes, ballerinas, and band entertained and delighted guests with their supreme talent.

Whites, creams, and blushes coloured the experience and created an innocent and feminine palette. The expansive floral tunnel and archway was an impressive 14 foot by 18 foot wide and even the pillars were adorned in wrap-around, cascading florals for the event.

The Cake

Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium—one of Cake Masters’ top ten cake artists—designed this 6-foot tall, 8-tiered white and gold cake for the event. The white sugar rose appliques and sugar flowers were meticulously handcrafted for the most beautiful and artistic adornments. The cake towered in mouth-watering glory.

The Venue

We mingled and laughed the night away in The Savoy’s luxurious space right in the heart of London on the River Thames. The only five-star hotel on the river, The Savoy is an iconic venue and luxury hotel that opened in 1889 and has seen a number of celebrities and high-profile guests grace it rooms throughout the years, including Frank Sinatra, Oscar Wilde, Judy Garland, Babe Ruth, The Beatles, Winston Churchill, and more.

I’ve included all of the team credits below, but I just have to say that this year’s Floral Opulence Gala Dinner and Karen Tran London Floral Experience Masterclass was a wonderful success. The team did a remarkable job and really came together to pull off a magnificent feat, which all of the Karen Tran Floral Experience gala dinners are.

The Planner

Jane Riddell, Founder of Planned for Perfection, was behind the entire Karen Tran London Floral Experience and she did a remarkable job! As a luxury wedding and event planner, she is incredibly skilled when it comes to creating a luxurious ambiance and event to remember. From the entertainment booked to the logistics and coordination of the event, I have to give a shout out to Jane for her talent and grace.
